It seems like one the most notable vanguards of diesel engines has begun preparations for an upcoming Tesla-like disruption in the trucking sector. Our complacency about indoor air contributed to our vulnerability to COVID-19, and we’ll continue to be vulnerable to COVID and other emerging threats until we re-think how we share our air.

This California startup wants to be the Pony Express of electric trucking

Source: https://www.canarymedia.com/articles/electric-vehicles/this-california-startup-wants-to-be-the-pony-express-of-electric-trucking

Salim Youssefzadeh, CEO of Los Angeles-area startup WattEV, has a plan to bring electric trucking to Southern California, one that merges novel technologies with much older logistics models — including the Pony Express.
Here’s the pitch: First, build enormous electric truck-charging hubs in three major freight transport centers in Southern California. Procure electric trucks from major manufacturers such as Volvo and Tesla, and establish partnerships with companies that want to move their freight on those trucks.

Calls grow for Alberta to recognize aerosol transmission of COVID-19

Source: https://calgary.ctvnews.ca/calls-grow-for-alberta-to-recognize-aerosol-transmission-of-covid-19-1.5697621

CALGARY – Alberta’s healthcare system still believes it is “not clear” what role aerosol transmission plays in the spread of the COVID-19 virus for distances greater than two metres.
Alberta Health says aerosol transmission is not a predominant mode of transmission except for health care settings, when performing aerosol generating medical procedures (AGMPs) and during specific circumstances in community settings.
That is information the province has relied on since November 2020.

Source: https://bc.ctvnews.ca/some-ventilation-upgrades-at-b-c-hospitals-as-health-minister-addresses-covid-19-outbreaks-1.5696416

VANCOUVER – The minister of health and his staff have provided some new information on B.C.’s response to COVID-19 outbreaks in hospitals, but many of the details remain hazy, including how many hospitals saw improved ventilation as a result.
Since the start of the pandemic, at least 1,619 people likely caught COVID-19 in the province’s hospitals, and at least 274 of them died. The provincial health officer insisted there are fewer outbreaks now due to vaccinations, but also improvements in ventilation systems.
